CHALLENGE:
As the landscape for student-athletes continues to grow more competitive, those high school players that enter their Junior and Senior years without any commitments to colleges see fewer and fewer opportunities for exposure. With many schools still look for players to fill their programs, we created a unique opportunity that allows coaches to scout uncommitted high school players who are still looking for chances to continue their student-athlete careers.
STRATEGY:
Create a one-day talent combine where college coaches in the East Metropolitan area could scout uncommitted high school soccer players for their programs.
IDEA: Let the kids play!
What’s better for coaches than just watching players do what they do best? We decided that simplicity was best here. Instead of trying to create a robust and overly technical training schedule for our players, we thought how could we give each player the most opportunities on the day to focus on simply playing and competing. With a series of 8v8 and 11v11 matches, each player was afforded ample time to showcase their skills both against and alongside other talented players, while coaches were allowed to scout from the stands.
RESULTS:
Achieved a 25% lift in attendance from our 2019 College I.D. combine and a 50% increase in players who committed to colleges to continue their student-athlete careers.
FT Talent continues to be a resource for player and coaches well after the combine. Through the content and documentation we collect during the combine, players are able to use our footage to assist them in showcasing their skills to other coaches who may not have been able to attend.
